Ayr Campus
SAC Ayr is based on the Auchincruive Estate, about 3 miles inland from the centre of Ayr town, which offers good shopping, social and sports facilities. The site has excellent accommodation options for new and progressing students. Wilson Halls offers newly fitted self-catering kitchens which enable you to manage your own catering needs. Local superstores are handy to the College so that you can easily buy whatever grocery or personal items you require. Shared kitchen facilities have created a new space for students to socialise while preparing and eating meals and this has added to the friendly Hall atmosphere.
The campus is ideally suited for study, with the farm, poultry farm and the estate grounds and gardens providing outstanding natural resources. The estate’s amenity areas and woodlands not only provide an impressive environment in which to live, work and study, but also act as a unique resource for the environmental and conservation courses on campus. Other excellent SAC facilities used by SAC students are at the Crichton Royal farm at Dumfries and the Kirkton-Auchtertyre farm at Tyndrum near Crianlarich. Teaching is concentrated in the John Hannah Building with classrooms fitted with appropriate technology to aid learning.
Life at the College is friendly and relaxed, and the many clubs and events ensure that there is always something going on from celidhs to foam parties, and talent nights to the summer Student Ball. Wednesday afternoon club, sport and leisure activities add value to the College teaching programme as students can use the time to extend a personal interest or hobby activity or perhaps gain skills to further develop their career options.
The Recreation Hall and the floodlit sports area provide accessible leisure spaces, as does the on-campus 15-station fitness and exercise trail, located beside the football and rugby pitches at Oswald Hall. If you enjoy more organised activity you can join one of the college’s clubs or teams.
