The City of Aberdeen

Scotland's third largest city

Aberdeen, known as the granite city, is home to a population exceeding 220,000 people. It provides all the attractions and advantages of city life, yet it retains the friendly atmosphere associated with smaller towns. It combines a rich cultural heritage with its role as one of the world’s centres for the offshore energy industry.

The city of Aberdeen itself offers a thriving social, cultural and sporting environment. You can find theatres, awarding winning museums, impressive art galleries, restaurants, wine bars, pubs, shopping malls, cinemas (mainstream and independent), night clubs and live entertainment.

Venues such as the Music Hall and Lemon Tree cater for a number of tastes (classical, folk, jazz, rock, pop, reggae, rap, drum and bass plus many more). They also hold dance and comedy nights. In addition, there is the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre which hosts live music shows, exhibitions and conferences.

The city and surrounding area is home to a huge number of golf courses and you will find swimming pools, bowling alleys, ice rinks and facilities where you can windsurf, horse ride and ski (both dry and wet).
