Roof Works, Ferguson building, Craibstone Campus (value £80K)
A new roof was constructed over the rooftop plant area at Ferguson building. This should mitigate all roof leaks that have occurred over this area during the past few years. Complete October 2011.
Student Kitchens, Mackie Hall, Craibstone Campus (value £46K)
2 new student kitchen areas were installed into Mackie Hall to provide a further 17 student bedrooms at Craibstone. Complete September 2011.
New office accommodation, Peter Wilson building, Edinburgh Campus (value £60K)
The refurbishment of office accommodation within Peter Wilson building to allow PEG and EH&S to relocate from Annexe building. This allowed SAC to lease the Annexe to Edinburgh University which will return an income to SA, covering the cost of the refurbishment within 2 years. Complete October 2011.
Replacement Calorifier, Peter Wilson Building, Edinburgh Campus (value £19K)
The existing calorifier (water heater) at PWB was 40+ years old. It was inefficient and in poor state of repair. We replaced the existing calorifier with a new plate heat calorifier which will provide all hot water necessary for the building significantly more efficiently and reliably. This replacement will pay back within 3 years. Complete March 2011.
Roof Works, Peter Wilson building, Edinburgh Campus (value £170K)
The existing roofing membrane is 40+ years old and was suffering from significant damage resulting in serious and frequent leaks within the building. By replacing the roof membrane, removing redundant roof penetrations and plant rooms from the roof, the building becomes weathertight. This will reduce the need for frequent room refurbishments due to water damage and will mitigate equipment damage within the building. Completion date is anticipated to be June 2011.
Communications Offices, Peter Wilson building, Edinburgh Campus (value £38K)
Due to the increasing demand for office accommodation within Peter Wilson building it was decided that we should relocate the Communications Group into new fit-for-purpose office accommodation adjacent to PEG & EH&S’s new offices. This frees up space for IS Group to allow them to expand into the much needed vacated offices. Complete April 2011.
Room 131 Student Computer Laboratory, Peter Wilson building, Edinburgh Campus (value £32K)
The existing student facilities were outdated, cluttered and uninspiring. We developed a refurbishment solution which freshened up the space by redecorating. We also developed a new desking layout which offered a more organic and informal layout. We also installed a smartboard and additional AV features to improve the teaching/ learning environment. Complete April 2011.
Fire Upgrade Works, various locations (Value £500K)
In order to improve out estate to meet current fire regulations we have carried out significant improvement works at various locations. Complete April 2011. Next tranche of improvement works scheduled to commence Summer/ Autumn 2011.
Link Road, Easter Howgate Farm (Value £68K)
A condition of the planning consent for the new Beef Unit was to provide a link road between Easter Howgate and Woodhouselee farms. Complete October 2011.
GreenCow Building, Easter Howgate Farm (Value £500K)
To assist Research Division’s methane measurement programme, we constructed a new building at Easter Howgate to accommodate the research equipment. Complete and formally opened March 2011.
GreenCow Silage Pits, Easter Howgate Farm (Value £300K)
To assist Research Division’s methane measurement programme, we are constructing new silage pits at Easter Howgate to allow storage of silage and feedstuffs for livestock involved within the research programme. Completion anticipated May 2011.
