Disability Equality Scheme
Examples and Comments
- SAC has published its Disability Equality Scheme and accompanying Action Plan.
- This has been drawn up following the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA 2005), which places a positive duty on all public bodies, including HEIs, to eliminate discrimination and harassment and to promote equality of opportunity for disabled people, including staff, students and other users of facilities and services.
- The Disability Equality Scheme sets out how SAC will fulfil the new duty. It includes an Action Plan for a range of operational and strategic activities that SAC will deliver over a three year period to meet the requirements of the Act.
- Further information about the Disability Equality Duty can be found on the Diability Rights Commission website at http://www.drc-gb.org/
- Information can be made available in other formats upon request, such as large print, CD and floppy disk.
