Veterinary CPD
Scientific knowledge is expanding all the time. However, it is difficult for anyone, least of all the busy veterinary practitioner to keep abreast of new knowledge relevant to their work. Yet this is what is expected by increasingly litigious clientele, and indeed is desirable as practices need to exploit competitive advantage to retain clients and increase practice incomes.
In order to provide for this, and to encourage an environment where the learning process continues long after initial qualification, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) recommends that every veterinarian undertakes a minimum of 35 hours continuing professional development (CPD) each year. Of this, a maximum of 10 hours may be categorised as distance learning or home study.
Recognising this, SAC has set up a series of one- and two- day CPD training courses on a wide range of primarily agricultural topics. We have sought the views of veterinary practitioners and use expertise from within SAC, research institutes, veterinary schools and commerce to provide courses of the highest standard.
Current courses include:
- Practical Bovine Ultrasonography
- Health Management for the Pig Herd
- Health Management for Game Birds
- Health Planning for the Beef Cow Herd
- Health Planning for the Dairy Herd
Venues and course topics can be arranged to suit delegate needs. See SAC's CPD For Vets training page (link on right) for other vet courses and further information.
