Cerebral lymphosarcoma was diagnosed postmortem in a five-year-old, female spayed Labrador presenting with sudden onset lethargy and the rapid onset of neurological signs.
Cats
Two ten-week-old Asian leopard kittens were submitted for postmortem examination with a history of progressive posterior paralysis. Two of the litter of five died shortly after birth. A third kitten was euthanased three weeks previously with a fractured femur. The postmortem findings suggested rickets with proximal and distal femoral fractures and deviations of the femurs. All bones were excessively soft and easily incised with a scalpel blade. Histopathological examination supported a diagnosis of rickets and fibrous osteodystrophy. Analysis of the diet suggested the kittens were receiving adequate calcium. However the owner stated that queens of this breed generally do not have much milk and the kittens are weaned early with a corresponding change of diet at an early age.
