Overview
Sheep deaths due to pasteurellosis continue
- Laminitis following disbudding of calves
- Bracken poisoning in beef cattle
- Infectious bovine rhinotracheitis
- Winter nematodirosis in lambs
- Blindness in finishing lambs
- Erysipelas in finishing pigs
- Infectious laryngotracheitis in pullets
The Scottish Executive announced that it had commissioned SAC to deliver a programme of seminars throughout Scotland for Scottish poultry-keepers to help them protect their flocks against the risk of avian influenza, providing practical advice on avian influenza and promoting good biosecurity.
Scottish abattoir deadweight prices for steers, heifers and young bulls in November were well down on equivalent figures for 2004 while liveweight prices at Scottish auctions for the same classes of stock were marginally below equivalent 2004 values. Both lamb and ewe prices at Scottish auctions were also down compared with 2004 values.
