Waterfowl & Turkeys
Ten percent mortality and some diarrhoea was reported in a batch of 650 turkeys aged seven days. Examination for salmonella and enteric viruses was negative but large numbers of coccidial oocysts were demonstrated, indicating an early coccidial challenge.
Coccidiosis plus unidentified motile protozoa were responsible for the deaths of ducklings aged five weeks and a gosling aged four weeks on two different sites. The ducklings had blood-stained intestinal contents and the gosling had a thickened lower small intestine with a necrotic pseudomembrane.
