Goats
Alimentary tract disorders
Paratuberculosis (Johne's disease) was diagnosed on the basis of a positive agar gel immuno-diffusion test (AGID) carried out on a serum sample from an aged male pygmy goat on a wildlife park near Perth. The animal was reported to have suffered progressive loss of condition.
Nervous system disorders
Swayback was suspected in a three-month-old goat with a history of ataxia, which was presented to the Perth Centre for euthanasia and post mortem examination. Neuropathological findings were inconclusive, but a subnormal liver copper content of 70 umol/kg DM (reference range >300 umol/kg DM) was found.
