Deer
Severe, chronic interstitial nephritis was diagnosed histologically in a two- year-old wild roe deer from an estate in Angus. The deer was found in a moribund condition on the estate.
Ticks were attached to the body. No antibody to louping-ill was detected in heart blood. Neuropathological changes in the brain were considered consistent with a toxic condition and probably the consequence of prolonged uraemia. The cause of the kidney lesions was however not determined. No further cases from the location have so far been reported.
