The Inverness Centre isolated Salmonella Typhimurium Dt40 from a 28-year-old horse that was weak and had profuse diarrhoea. The horse was on a holding approximately one mile away from a farm which had the same strain isolated from a group of eight cows affected by scour and dysentery two weeks previously.
No link has been identified between the cases but investigations are continuing.
