Scottish Animal Health Planning System (SAHPS)
The Scottish Animal Health Planning System (SAHPS) is a web-based health planning system that allows veterinary surgeons and farmers to create and manage farm health plans.
SAHPS has been funded by The Scottish Government (TSG) and created by SAC (Scottish Agricultural College) to support veterinary surgeons and farmers involved with farm health planning through the Animal Health & Welfare Management Programme (AHWMP).
SAHPS is free of charge to AHWMP-accredited veterinary surgeons and their farm clients. Farmers wishing to use SAHPS for the first time should contact their veterinary surgeon.
Development Phases
SAHPS is being developed in two phases
- Phase 1 Sheep Health Plans was launched at the Royal Highland Show 2008.
- Phase 2 Beef Health Plans to be launched in 2010.
SAHPS will continue to be enhanced. Some future developments will include automatic system notifications (e.g. to advise when vaccinations are due) and links to existing systems such as veterinary laboratory and abattoir reports.
