Cattle Health Conference 2005
Perth Agricultural Centre, 18 May 2005
The Cattle Health Conference drawing together the key players of the cattle industry in Scotland was held on 19 May at Perth Agricultural Centre. It was organised by NFU Scotland in conjunction with the Scottish Executive, SAC, Quality Meat Scotland and the Moredun Research Institute.
The Cattle Health Conference took the format of six presentations in the morning which described emerging diseases threats and the opportunities for greater control of these diseases provided by new technologies, biosecurity and health plans.
The two afternoon speakers described the new animal health and welfare management programme and a strategic approach to breeding replacements. These were followed by group sessions examining the way forward for the industry.
The Cattle Health Conference concluded with broad agreement that health planning and new technologies offered an exciting approach to meeting the challenges these disease threats present to the Scottish Cattle Industry.
