Key International Projects
SAC is a Mandated Body and can therefore participate in EU Twinning projects, as well as provide 'conventional' technical assistance for official development agencies and international financial institutions.
Some examples of projects illustrating our expertise are listed below.
Agricultural & Rural Policy At National & Regional Level, Romania - EU Twinning
This project contributed to Romania’s future integration into the EU by developing policies that aligned with EU laws and norms.
National Agricultural Advisory System, Poland - EU Twinning
Purpose and the main objective was to support the:
- Adjustment of Polish agriculture to the requirements of EU integration
- Improvement of agricultural advisory system
- Establishment of producers groups as a more effective form of managing farm business
- Preparation of advisory staff to implement new sanitary and quality standards among farmers introduced as binding legal acts according to the requirements of the EU.
Supporting Development Of Third Party Arbitration Courts, Tajikistan - DFID
To establish an arbitration mechanism for the resolution of land and property disputes in support of Tajikistan's land reform programme.
Support to Sectoral Development of SMEs in the Regions of Kazakhstan - EC TACIS
This project involved development of national SME programs including: policy advice to government, establishment of a new organisation (BDA-PIU) to sub-contract both donor programs and programs from the Kazakhstan Agency for Small Business Development.
Agricultural Development and Environmental Protection in Transylvania, Romania - World Bank
The overall aim of the ADEPT project is to preserve an area of cultural and natural heritage of international importance, i.e.
Marketing Support Project, Kosovo - European Agency for Reconstruction
The overall objective of this project is to improve the marketing of domestically produced agricultural and food products inside and outside of Kosovo and so contribute to the overall economic development of rural areas.
Strengthening of Control of Infectious Animal Diseases in Lithuania - EU Twinning
The specific objectives of this project were to strengthen administrative and technical capacities:
- of Infectious Disease Control Centres and veterinary laboratories in accordance with relevant EU acquis on infectious diseases in order to control animal diseases and handle contagious animal disease emergencies
- to minimise the number of rabies cases amongst domestic and wild animals and thereby reduce the possibilities of human infection.
Training Of Young Romanian Specialists In Agricultural Extension - World Bank
Vocational Training For Farm, Wholesale & Retail Managers Involved In Agrimarketing, EU Wide - Leonardo da Vinci
The main objective of this project is to develop training material (primarily as case studies) that can be used by trainers to enhance the skills of farmers and agri-business wholesale and retail managers that operate in less favoured areas of the EU.
Alignment Of Organic Agriculture Legislation To The EU Acquis & Development Of Organic Agriculture, Turkey - NPFAP
The overall objective of this project is to enhance the sustainable development of organic agriculture and related sectors, in accordance with the EU acquis, by stimulating, promoting, supervising and controlling the production and processing of organic foods and non-food products in Turkey.
