Domestic Effluent Treatment
Have You Thought About How Big Your Septic Tank Should Be?
Before building a new house or renovating an old house, take some time to think about how you will dispose of your domestic sewage when you don’t have a sewer. It’s got to go somewhere.
The cheapest system and the easiest to maintain is a septic tank and soakaway or leachate field.
The sewage is separated at the septic tank, the solids remain in the tank and the liquid or effluent is decanted off. The effluent is not clean enough to be discharged to a watercourse but can be lost to the soil if the soil at your site is suitable.
To find out whether the soil at your site is suitable, SAC Environmental can carry out soil porosity tests.
