Organic Farming: Science & Practice Conference, 2007
Over 80 people gathered at Garlogie Hall, just outside Aberdeen, on Thursday, 25 January, 2007 for another event in SAC's ‘Success through Knowledge’ knowledge transfer programme.
The one-day conference, organised by David Younie of SAC Agronomy Services, was entitled ‘Organic Farming: Science and Practice’. The audience comprised experienced organic producers, those in the process of converting or just considering conversion, other professionals such as vets, and some of SAC’s own Postgraduate Diploma organic farming students (many of whom are organic producers themselves).
The morning session covered markets, crops and soils topics with speakers David Younie, Christine Watson, Robin Walker, Hannah Jones of Elm Farm Organic Research Centre, Ken Davies, Geoff Armstrong, while the afternoon was devoted to livestock issues and featured talks from Douglas Gray, Richard Huxtable, Spiridoula Athanasiadou and Fritha Langford.
