Sourcing Local Organic Food in Scotland

Scottish Organic Producers Direct Selling To Consumers

As part of its 2007 Scottish Government-funded organic market intelligence advisory programme, SAC prepared a map and directory, listing all Scottish organic producers direct selling to the end-consumer via direct local markets (i.e. box schemes, farmers' markets, mail order, farm gates sales etc).

The aims of the map and directory are to promote and raise awareness of the organic sector in Scotland, promote individual businesses and to direct consumers to local sources of regional organic produce.

Due to ever increasing importance and interest in Scotland of sourcing local organic produce the map and leaflet have been updated in 2009.  They now include even more organic producers direct selling to consumers and examples of available local organic produce include: Scottish cheeses, herbs, fruit, meat, vegetables, ice cream and chocolate.
