What level of approval is given for nutrient inputs such as sulphate of potash, sulphur, trace elements?
Sulphate of potash, trace elements such as manganese sulphate:
Approval for the use of these products is restricted. The need for them must be recognised by the Certification Body.
Approval would be granted where there is a deficiency situation and where there is a danger of complete crop failure.
This approval is normally given over the telephone, but evidence for the need for the product (e.g. herbage tissue analysis, or soil analysis) would need to be sent to the Certification Body thereafter.
Similarly, sulphur has restricted approval for use as a fungicide to control leaf diseases such as mildew.
