Disbudding of calves

Disbudding of calves is allowed when it is judged necessary, in accordance with relevant Codes of Recommendation for Animal Welfare.

Castration

Castration is allowed when it is judged necessary, in accordance with relevant Codes of Recommendation for Animal Welfare.

Tail docking

Lambs

Tail docking on lambs may be carried out for animal welfare reasons. A rubber ring may be used within 72 hours of birth and a knife and hot iron used between three and six weeks of birth.

Pigs

Tail docking is not permitted on pigs.
