Are seed dressings allowed?

Seed dressings which are based on mercury or organo-chlorine compounds are not allowed.

Other substances can be used provided that:

  • The treatment is authorised for use in general agriculture in the UK
  • The users of such seed can show to the satisfaction of the Certification Committee that they were unable to obtain on the market non-treated seeds of an appropriate variety of the species in question
  • Accurate records are kept, containing details of the substances used as a seed dressing
