How should land be managed during the conversion period?
The land must be managed organically during the two year conversion period. crops.
If the land was previously under exploitative cropping (i.e. arable cropping, with crops other than legumes - peas and beans), the conversion period must begin with a fertility building phase e.g. a grass/clover ley.
Set-aside, sown with a grass/clover ley, or even pure red clover, is an excellent way of building fertility in the conversion period on land which has previously been in arable
