Farm Rural Business Services

SAC strives to support the development of land-based industries through its consultancy, research and education services.  The Rural Business Unit works closely with SAC Research and other groups within SAC Consulting.  We are therefore ideally placed to support industry-wide initiatives and provide practical solutions. 

It is a focus for innovation and the transfer of knowledge to land based industries.

The RBU plays an active role in business management and knowledge exchange both at the farm and industry level.  Key areas include training and facilitation of farm and interest groups, food chain assessment, carbon management, renewable energy projects, sector commodity management and market information.

Presentations and workshop facilitation includes:

• Grain and feed market outlook (including risk management)
• Beef and sheep market outlook
• Can we cut carbon emissions and save money?
• Farm business planning and account analysis

Projects include:

• Analysis of UK and global commodity markets and trade restrictions
• Specialist SRDP applications and whole farm reviews
• Development of the SAC carbon calculator and associated activities
• Supply chain assessments
