When the snows finally melt away we will see just how badly populations of species like corn buntings or wild bees have been affected. The role farmers and land managers can play in creating the habitats in which these species and many others can recover has seldom been more important.

SAC Scrapie Genotype Tests Approved For Export

DEFRA has agreed that the results of scrapie genotyping tests carried out by SAC can be used for breeding sheep bound for export within the EU. Previously, sheep tested by SAC had to be re-tested in another laboratory before leaving the country.

Lanark-Based Consultant Wins SAC Award

Lanark-based SAC Farm Business Consultant Grant Conchie is an award winner. At the recent SAC Graduation ceremony at the University of Glasgow he was presented with the Sir R C Stewart Prize for what was described as “his contribution to the advancement of farming through effort and excellence in outreach activities”. The award is named after a former President of SAC Governors.
