Watch for early Rhynchosporium

Rhynchosporium can develop rapidly in the early spring.
Ongoing SAC research suggests seed borne infection is more important than was originally thought.

Expect rhychosporium to be  widely distributed throughout the crop in susceptible varieties.

Early spring fungicides can lead to better management,

We cannot guarantee this every time, but early disease control is key to managing rhynchosporium.

Also bear in mind the most responsive time to protect winter barley crops from disease in Scotland is at stem extension GS31-32.
