Professor Bill Stevely, CBE, Vice Chairman
Joined the SAC Board in 2005 and became Vice Chairman in 2007
Professor Bill Stevely has had a notable academic career serving as Principal and Vice Chancellor of Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and previously as Vice Principal of Paisley University.
He has also served at national level on a number of education committees and strategic bodies.
He has been a Member of the Board of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, Chairman of Universities Scotland and a Member of the Executive Committee of Universities UK. He was also Chairman of UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).
He has served as a Board member of Learn Direct Scotland and its successor Skills Development Scotland. From 2006 to 2011 he was chairman of the Board of NHS Ayrshire and Arran. He is currently vice chairman of the Council of the Open University.
He was appointed CBE in 2004 for services to education.
